Preston Primary Schools Hockey Tournament on Friday 30th April 2010

Dear all,
We have approx.15 primary schools playing in the Preston Primary Schools Hockey Tournament/competition organised by Preston City Council, Sports Development Unit.

It is at Preston Sports Arena on Friday the 30th April 2010 arriving at 9.30 for a 10am start & hoping to finish at 2.30pm. In order to run this Tournament properly I need to get some help from hockey people. I know most of you will be working or attending School/College/University, but if you could get time off/excused from school/lectures to help us for the morning or the afternoon, we would be extremely grateful.

I hope this does not cause any problems................the Tournament will start at 10am & finish at 2.30pm

So you could do Morning 10am - 12.30pm or Afternoon 12.30pm - 2pm.

Please confirm to me ASAP if you can help so that we can collate volunteer numbers. Umpiring & Administration of results/central timing will be the main jobs, but if we have extra numbers then schools without hockey knowledge can be given a mentor to help coach the team.

Please contact me ASAP on 07890609497 or nicksutcliffe@ntlworld.com

Summer Junior Hockey Coaching

Summer coaching (similar to last Summer) will commence at 7pm to 8.30pm on Thursdays from 22nd April 2010 running till the Pre-Season Tournaments on the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The Coaching will be overseen by qualified senior hockey coaches who are CRB cleared for coaching children, but many of the sessions will be lead by assistant coaches who are presently studying for their coaching qualifications under the mentorship of the senior coach. These coaches are of excellent quality and will include Nick & Andy from last year with Sam Sinclair & Adam Wilson who have both returned from playing EHL National Premier League for Bowdon & Brooklands respectively & Fay Nash (Ex-Leyland Motors (now Preston Ladies), Loughboro' Students & presently EHL Premier League club Bowdon-Hightown). Add junior coaches Alex Thompson & Joe Poxon & adult coaches Colin Sinclair, Rob Blackburn and we have the team to develop all players from new starters (bring your friends along to try Hockey!!) to players looking to move into the Men's section from the Badgers.

These coaching sessions will be split into two sections based on age, ability & numbers, but as we move through the summer, the aim is to eventually coach players as a Badger squad for next season and a Beaver Squad for next season. All sessions are for Boys & Girls to join in.

All players (Male & Female) who have played for the Badgers & Beavers teams this season are invited to join these sessions. Players who have moved up from Junior section to Men's section are also welcome.

If you are unsure as to which sesions you/your Son/Daughter should attend, please contact me to discuss.

Kind Regards
